Small Projects is very proud to host a film screening/ talk by Dr. Itsushi Kawaze of the National Museum of Ethnology, Osaka, Japan. Dr. Kawaze will be in Tromsø on the invitation of the Tromsø University Museum for a series of events highlighted by his lecture, Intangible Cultural Heritage and Ethnographic Filmmaking: Investigation of Knowledge, Method and Politics Based on Case Studies from Ethiopia which will be held at the Tromsø University Museum auditorium on 24. November, 13:00h.

 

Dr. Kawase Itsushi is an associate professor at the National Museum of Ethnology, Osaka, Japan. He holds a BA, Literature, Faculty of Letters, Ritsumeikan University 2001, an MA. in Area Studies, Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University 2007 and Ph.D. Area Studies, Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University 2010. Research topics: Creating the Audio-visual Narrative in Conjunction with Anthropology, Cinema and Contemporary Art. Exploring Intangible Cultural Heritage and Filmmaking: the investigation of knowledge, method and politics based on case studies from Africa.

 

Disciplinary fields: Visual Anthropology, Intangible Cultural Heritage, African Studies (Ethiopia), Musicology.
